S2, E5: Firefighter Momma analogy with host Leslie loewe, interviewed by Dr. Sue McCreadie

On this episode, I spoke with Dr. Sue about my journey into motherhood. I use the analogy of a firefighter momma, in hopes that it will help you to identify your own nervous system fatigue.

Imagine this, you’re a firefighter and you’ve been called to put out a fire. There are lives on the line, and you know and feel how important your job is on every level…BUT you’re the only firefighter and you haven’t been trained yet. Your heart and mind are racing to try to figure out how best to do this job! You’ve seen someone put a fire out before, so you figure you’ll try it that way…but the flames are getting bigger and bigger and it’s not working…this is YOU momma. Trying so hard to be what you want to be as a mother (a firefighter). You're giving it your all, day after day, by yourself, and sometimes without any sign of progress….

Maybe you will see yourself in this episode, and realize that your stress and anxiety are natural effects from this all encompassing and most important role. You will feel the validation you need to know that you are doing an AMAZING job today, and everyday. Maybe it will get your mind going in a direction of “what tiny step can I take today, to support this amazing firefighter momma.”

All this and more on today's episode of The Motherload Podcast.
